Cooking has always been the one part of life I felt like I had under control. Everything else was vague and confusing. Applying kitchen technique to life as a value system really speaks to me. I have made so much progress as a person in the past two months since reading it.There's one crucial philosophical difference between this book and productivity books like Getting Things Done. Those books never worked for me because they're all about how to squeeze more work out of myself like I'm an orange in a juicer.This is NOT a book on being more productive. It's a book on being good at what you do. Since finishing and delivering is part of excellence (work doesn't count until it's delivered), productivity happens as a side benefit of pursuing excellence. Now, THAT'S a concept I can get behind!
